After a brief rain shower that lowered the temperature in Salt Lake City, I decided today was the day to get ramen. This is my second time here and I was very happy to see the umami ramen on the menu. It is by far my favorite with a delicious broth with just enough spice and toppings. I also love their noodles, which are cooked perfectly. It was a nice surprise to see the summer appetizers. I ordered the shishito peppers that were perfectly blistered. The $5 cocktails were a nice edition to the restaurant.
The staff was wonderful. They were attentive, without being annoying. I enjoyed sitting at the front bar and watching the world go by.
When I travel to Salt Lake City it can be difficult to find restaurants open on Sunday. I think this is my new go to place! -

The first time I came here, the food was great. I grabbed the Tonkotsu ramen and it was pretty good. The broth had good flavor, and the chasu was great. The service was okay though, and not quite matching up to the food. I ordered dessert and that was obviously forgotten as my check was set in front of me, sans dessert. The person did end up apologizing, so I was like okay, mistakes happen. That's forgivable.
Fast forward to today. I stopped by with a friend. It was cold so some good, hot ramen sounded appealing. We arrived early, and there were only 2 tables taken. Sweet! We can get seated right away.
We were directed toward the seating in the front with the cold window, so we asked if we could have a table. As I mentioned, we were looking forward to sitting at a table more inside that was warm, plus my friend is tall and those higher seats are not comfortable.
Well, we were told that those seats need to be saved for other 'potential' bigger groups so we couldn't sit at the tables. Really? So getting there early in order to beat the rush apparently didn't matter; we apparently need more people to get a table. We just looked at each other in disbelief, then headed out to another place.
I doubt we'll be going back after that.
Edit:
Wow, so apparently I'm a keyboard warrior now. Instead of taking the higher ground and giving their explanation, this is the "rebuttal" I get. I have actually eaten at this place before (as pointed out the beginning of my review). We were also there at 11:30am, not dinner. I'll leave this at that, as the owner is right, Yelp isn't a place to rant. -

We enjoyed Ramen Bar!
Cons: Started a little rough - you sign in at the front and there's a very small waiting area and it was raining so it was cramped. It didn't seem there was a ton of urgency to seat people once tables opened up. The gyoza was not traditional, it was deep fried and served with orange mayo that had no taste - wasn't super impressed but would be good while drunk. My sauvignon blanc was served warm.
Pros: The food was good and the service was great. We we served very fast. Quality wise, it's certainly an acceptable alternative to Tosh's Ramen. We both had the Curry Udon, it was delicious and a good portion. We also enjoyed the wings, the sauce was good and they were meaty. Wine was served at a good portion for Utah. The cucumber Saki cocktail was yum. -

Thank you Raymona for the excellent customer service. We enjoyed the food and the place is really cute inside. You can enjoy dinning inside or outside.
We're in Salt lake visting from San Diego, California. -

My first couple of tries going here was a dud cause of how long the wait can be. My friend finally was able to get a seat there and they weren't busy, so I just joined. Originally I didn't plan on eating, just drinking but their menu enticed me to order.
They do a really perfect table to take a photo at, if you are lucky you might get that table for the optimal insta foodie photo. I wasn't that lucky and sat at the bar.
The drinks here are very good. I didn't know how I feel about them diluting the sake in front of me. I was concerned about how much water I got in drink versus sake. Even the employees joked about a cup of clear liquid if it's sake or water.
The food here is decent. Cheap appetizers (dumplings and wings) and their noodles are decent. I got their curry noodles. The curry was good. The noodles was cooked to perfect texture. The meat was seasoned very well as well. And the egg was cooked to perfection.
The service here is a very hit or missed. Even though everyone was just standing in front of me behind the bar. They were busy talking and "training" than helping me. I had to wave at them and raised my voice a little to get attention. This is just to order. When it came to the check and clearing out things...we were practically escorted out the door.
Great food, fun atmosphere....but that's all.
Update to my review:
As we can see, the owner didn't appreciate my review and now I'm here clarifying my sarcasm. I do understand if that they would need to explain my diluting comment. The way they were pouring the sake into another bottle and then following a joke about it being water got me concern. I didn't came up with that conclusion without listening to that comment. Maybe don't joke around about diluting in front of customers.
My second comment about the word "Training" in quotes...they weren't training. They were just standing around joking, I said "training" so I wasn't too blunt with my review. I wouldn't mind if they were actually training new employees.
Have a magical day!
